The Uranium models feature an Intel® Sandy Bridge chip with each of the processing cores overclocked to 4.80 GHz (the 8-threaded i7-2600K runs hotter than the 4-threaded i5-2500K, so it requires a more elaborate cooling solution than what comes with the Uranium I. The longer build time and the additional tuning to dissipate the higher heat load accounts for the price difference).
The Uranium models have proven 24x7 reliability. With no maintenance required, they are ideal for "lights out" operations such as server rooms and data centers. They can also be configured to be outstanding, high performance gaming systems.
The Sandy Bridge architecture is rather impressive even at stock speeds, but crusing along at 4.80 GHz you will be experiencing speeds that won't otherwise be available for at least 7 to 8 years.
